NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

Notice is hereby given the intention of the Board of County Commissioners of Escambia County, Florida at a public hearing to be held at 5.30 p.m. on the 5th day of January 2023 in the Board Chambers, Room 100, Escambia County Governmental Complex, 221 Palafox Place, to receive input from the public on the proposed use of Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2022 Local Solicitation.  Proposed use of the anticipated funds would be for law enforcement overtime to support law enforcement operations in the amount of $124,745.00.

 

All interested parties may appear at the public hearing and be heard regarding the proposed allocation of grant funds.  An overview of the JAG program is available for review in the County Administrator’s Office; 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola, FL  32501.

 

Any person who decides to appeal any decision made with respect to any matter at the public hearing will need a record of the proceedings of the meeting.  Since the Board of County Commissions does not make verbatim recordings of its meetings, such person may need to independently secure a record, which should include the testimony or evidence on which the appeal is based.

 

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person needing a special accommodation or an interpreter to participate in the Public Hearing should contact the County Administrator’s office at 850-595-4900 at least seven days prior to the date of the hearing.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION TO USE THE UNIFORM METHOD OF COLLECTING NON-AD VALOREM SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS

 

    The Board of County Commissioners of Escambia County, Florida (the “Board”) hereby provides notice, pursuant to Section 197.3632(3)(a), Florida Statutes, of its intent to use the uniform method of collecting non-ad valorem special assessments to be levied within both the unincorporated and incorporated areas of Escambia County, for the cost of providing street lighting, road paving and drainage, road resurfacing, disposal and recycling of solid waste, stormwater management, fire protection services, parks, recreation and amenities, water services, utilities services, sewer and lift station services, data communications services, natural resource protection, code enforcement, nuisance abatements, dredging, law enforcement and mosquito services commencing for the Fiscal Year beginning on October 1, 2023. The Board will consider the adoption of a resolution authorizing use of the uniform method of collection and compliance with Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes, at a public hearing to be held at 5:31 p.m., December 8, 2022, or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Board of County Commissioners’ Chambers, 1st Floor, 221 Palafox Place, Pensacola, Florida. The resolution will state the need for the levy and will contain a legal description of the boundaries of the real property subject to the levy.
